Worship and Music in the Small Church is designed to enable students to better analyze, plan, lead, and participate in Christian worship and music. The course will seek to facilitate students with . . .

  • Reflection on the definition, purposes, and elements of Christian worship
  • Planning and leading worship, with particular attention to the  music
  • Developing awareness of theological and practical rationale within their biblical, denominational, and congregational worship tradition, as well as introducing a variety of liturgies and worship experiences that might be used within their current congregation.

 

Instructor:  Ed Varnum, has served as pastor of congregations in Oklahoma, Texas, California and Missouri during his thirty-seven years in ministry.  He is currently the minister of First Christian Church, Fulton.  His educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Arizona State University, a Masters of Divinity from Phillips Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry from Lexington Theological Seminary.  Ed and Jan Varnum make their home in Columbia, Missouri.  They have four children and three grandchildren.
